Field Day of Water Melon Variety "Bangla Link" at Bagerhat

Agrilife24.com: Water Melon is one of the major cash crops for the farmers in the southern region. ACI Seed has arranged a field day program for "Bangla Link", a prominent watermelon variety of East West Seed International, at Kachua, Bagerhat recently.

The variety is highly suitable for coastal and char areas. The Business sold the variety on a trial basis and conducted demonstrations at the potential markets. The farmers are getting satisfactory results by cultivating Bangla Link this season in different locations of Patuakhali, Bhola, Khulna, Bagerhat and Noakhali.

The specialty of the variety is excellent uniform and attractive color of fruits as well as higher marketable yield. The cultivation period of the variety is October to February. The average fruit weight is 10-12 Kg. The average yield is 40-50 MT per acre. It can be harvested by 65-70 days after transplanting. The bricks of the variety are 12-14.

Mr. Yusuf Alam, Asst. Marketing Manager, Mr. Riddiqur Rahman, Area Sales Executive, Mr. Sujoy Kumar Ghosh, Territory Officer of ACI Seed and Mr. Ashraful Alam, Market Development Officer of East-West Seed were present in the field day program.

About 70 farmers and retailers participated in the program. The farmers were very pleased by getting the excellent result from "Bangla Link".

The participating farmers and retailers were very excited to see the performance and know the key information about Bangla Link through the program and they were committed to cultivating the variety in the next season.
