WCRC-7 has been started in Cairo

International correspondent: World Cotton Research Conference (WCRC-7) has started Steigenberger Hotel,El Tahrir, in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.. This conference will continue till October 7. International Cotton Research Association (ICRA), in collaboration with International Cotton Advisory Council (ICAC), four-days World Cotton Research Conference in order to share international best practices, knowledge and expertise to promote the crop of vital importance.

A delegation of three members from Bangladesh headed by Executive Director of Cotton Development Board of Bangladesh (CDB) Mr. Md.Akhteruzzaman Participating the conference. The other two members of the delegation are Dr. Md.Tasdiqur Rahman &  Dr. Md.Md. Kamrul Islam. They presented three scientific papers on the opening day (4 October).



Executive Director of Cotton Development Board of Bangladesh (CDB) Mr. Md.Akhteruzzaman made a presentation on "Seedling Age Effect on Yield and Lint Quality of Cotton", Dr. Md.Tasdiqur Rahman: "Ginning traits, fiber and seed quality of cotton as influenced by foliar application of nitrogen, potassium and boro" &  Dr. Md.Md. Kamrul Islam: "Determining the effects of nitrogen rate on upland cotton growth, yield and fiber quality" on First ay of the conference.

The organiser praise about Bangladeshi scientists and also encourage progress of cotton production of Bangladesh.

The conference aimed at finding ways and means to overcome the challenges being faced the cotton growers across the world due to climate change and environmental degradation, which causing droughts and torrential rains and insect attacks on the crop.



The World Cotton Research Conference (WCRC) is held once every four years in different cotton growing countries. The previous conferences were held in Australia (1994), Greece (1998), South Africa (2003), USA (2007), India (2011) and Brazil (2016).The WCRC serves as a global platform for researchers and experts to share the latest updates in cotton research and development.
