ACI Seed Conducts Retailer Meeting to Showcase Onion Varieties

Agrilife24.com: Onion cultivation is a lucrative cash crop for farmers in our country, and ACI Seed recognizes its importance. Currently, ACI Seed is marketing six prominent onion varieties: Biplob (Summer Variety), Biplob Super, ACI Gold (Hybrid Varieties), ACI King, Taherpuri, and TP-406 (OP Varieties). To disseminate product knowledge and discuss business opportunities, ACI Seed recently organized a Retailer Meeting in Faridpur, Kushtia, and Pabna.

The meeting highlighted two hybrid varieties, Biplob Super and ACI Gold, which offer higher yield capacities. These varieties yield approximately 37-38 metric tons per hectare and have a crop duration of 90-100 days after transplanting. The bulbs are globe-shaped with a light red color, weighing an average of 80-120 grams. More than 90% of the bulbs are single, and the bolting percentage is less than 5%. These varieties have a medium to high pungency level and can be stored for 6-7 months.

ACI King, a well-established Polycross variety, was also showcased during the meeting. It yields around 30-32 metric tons per hectare, with a crop duration of 85-90 days after transplanting. The bulbs are globe-shaped with a yellowish-red color, weighing an average of 60-70 grams. Similar to the hybrid varieties, more than 90% of the bulbs are single.

TP-406, an OP variety, was another highlight of the meeting due to its higher yield potential. It yields approximately 30-32 metric tons per hectare, with a crop duration of 85-95 days after transplanting. The bulbs are flat globe-shaped with a yellowish-red color, weighing an average of 60-70 grams. More than 90% of the bulbs are single, and the bolting percentage is less than 5%. This variety also has a medium to high pungency level and can be stored for 7-8 months.

The Retailer Meeting was attended by the Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Area Sales Manager, and Marketing Officers. The retailers expressed great enthusiasm in learning key information about the onion varieties during the program, and they are committed to selling these products in the upcoming season.
