Krishibid Din Mohammed Dinu:Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal appointed as Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Sunday morning 30 October, 2022. Prior to be appointed as dean he was the Selection grade professor in the department of Anatomy and Histology of BAU, Mymensingh. He is now 37th Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, BAU.
Born in October 31, 1963, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal comes from the Brahmanbaria district. He secured 1st class 4th in SSC and 1st class 2nd position in HSC in the merit list of Comilla Board and secured Presidential award the then president of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
He passed DVM under the Faculty of the Veterinary Science, BAU in 1984 acquiring First class, he completed MSc. in Anatomy from BAU in 1989 acquiring First class First.
He completed his PhD from the Kagoshima University, Japan in 1996 & Post Doctoral Fellowship programs (JSPS) in the University of Tokyo, Japan, from 1999 to 2001, 2003 to 2004, 2004 to 2005.
Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal joined BAU as a Lecturer in 1988 and He was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2002. He was also visiting professor at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea in 2004 to 2005. Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal possesses an eminent, well known and respected background of career with a plethora of research exposure and quality national and international publications.
He worked as an editor of many national & international Journals. He has 64 numbers of publications in journals and proceedings included 25 in impact factors journals. He participated in a good number of National and International conferences, workshops, seminar and symposiums held on the subjects related to the field of specialization, presented technical papers and chaired several technical sessions.
During his teaching and research career at BAU, Dr. Awal had an academic and administrative positions namely, house tutors of many residential halls, Provost, Convener of Provost Council; He served the Anatomy and Histology Department as a head 4 times. He is also associated with various education and research, social, cultural, national & international scientific and professional organizations. He Supervised research works of huge number of Masters Degree students and PhD students.
Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal is married and has a happy family of four members with two Sons in his personal life. He received deanship charge on 30 October, 2022 from Immediate past Dean Professor Dr. Md. Mokbul Hossain.
