Kemin AquaScience™ Launched “Novel Aquafeed Solutions for Sustainable Aquaculture” in Dhaka

As the world's population continues to grow, so does the demand for fresh, safe, and affordable sources of animal protein. As the need for seafood is ever-growing, simultaneously, the demand for high-quality fish feed and premix/additives for aquaculture has grown. The feed producers, shrimp, and fish farmers looking for sustainable solutions to help them run healthy and profitable businesses.

To serve this aquaculture industry’s needs, Kemin AquaScience™ the aquaculture business unit of Kemin Industries which is one of the leading global animal nutrition companies has begun working on large-scale operations in Bangladesh.



Kemin AquaScience™ hosted a grand launch event on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the elite Radisson Blu Hotel in Dhaka with the theme "Novel Aquafeed Solutions for Sustainable Aquaculture." Global aquaculture experts presented insights on various topics to the industry stakeholders and emphasized the importance and opportunities for sustainable strategies for resilient aquaculture production.



Mr. Krishnan, Regional Director-South Asia, welcomed the guests on behalf of Kemin AquaScience™. He stated that Kemin's global experts, along with deep research and innovative products, are partnering with feed millers, farmers, and fish meal producers to help raise the healthiest aquaculture species for higher economic returns. Our combined efforts are going to aid in the development of Bangladesh's aquaculture and fishing sectors.

Followed by the welcome, the insightful session started with the presentation of an aquaculture expert and the guest speaker Dr. Orapint Jintasataporn, Associate Professor, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University. Bangkok, Thailand. She shared her vast experience and knowledge in the "Overcoming of using alternative ingredients in aquafeed".

Dr. Orapint said that now is the time to think about alternative feed production in aquaculture. She also discussed the work to be done for this purpose and its challenges and possibilities.

Then " Kemin's solution to overcoming the limitation of alternative ingredients in fish feed" was Presented by Mr. Grin Swangdacharuk Product Manager, Kemin AquaScience.

Mr. Grin said that high-quality raw material must be used to make well-balanced fish feed. At present, the prices of every raw material for feed production have gone up at a huge rate all over the world. That is why it is important to look at the maximum amount of nutrients that can be extracted from each raw material used in fish feed production. Also, think to increase the productivity of aquaculture by increasing the feed conversion ratio (F.C.R) Kemin AquaScience is working on that, as mentioned by Grin.



Mr.K Satish, Regional Business Manager- MillSMART, KAS (Kemin Application Solutions) presented on "Improving profitability by optimizing the feed milling efficiency". Mr. K Satish said that every feed company or entrepreneur wants to grow the business based on their core focus on feed milling technology and quality of feed. A feed mill operations team can improve the performance of feed mill by fine tuning the milling parameters to achieve the operation excellence. With these key focus feed millers can manage feed as a profitable business while serving the need of the industry.

During the question-answer session, the guest speakers and expert panelists from Kemin AquaScience™ shared their views and answered the questions posted on them by the attendees.
